Guide to setting and achieving your 2017 goals
1. Set 1-2 major goals for 2017.
One of my biggest past mistakes has been setting a long list of goals and feeling disappointed because I only achieved a few of them. This year I have two major goals, one personal and one career-driven. Take some time to reflect on what you really want to accomplish in 2017 – what is your deepest desire to accomplish or achieve?
2. Create monthly sub-goals.
Once you’ve created your 1-2 major goals, create monthly sub-goals for each goal, for the next twelve months. Your monthly sub-goals will clearly lead to you accomplishing your 1-2 major goals for the year.
3. Create weekly mini-goals.
Each mini-goal should take no longer than a week to accomplish. The mini-goals should help you reach your monthly sub-goal.
4. Do your weekly planning.
Based on the weekly goals you create for the current month you should set aside half an hour each week to create a weekly list for accomplishing your mini-goals for the week ahead.
5. Do your daily planning.
Once you’ve done your weekly planning, you need to set aside time to plan every single day for the upcoming day. I usually do this at the end of the day before I go to sleep. My list contains the urgent things that needs to done along with action list of things I need to do to reach my weekly goal.
